Accommodation & Food Service: A Vital 6% of EU Enterprises, Employing 10 Million

There were 1.9 million accommodation & food service enterprises in the EU in 2021, representing 6.1% of all business economy enterprises.

The sector employed 9.9 million people in 2021 and generated €203.6 billion in value added.

The sector accounted for 6.3% of persons employed and 2.2% of value added in the EU business economy in 2021.

The sector's contribution to business economy value added ranged from 0.8% in Slovakia to 6.5% in Greece across EU countries.

The accommodation & food sector's contribution to business economy employment was higher, ranging from 2.8% in Poland to 19.6% in Greece.
