Space Shuttle Endeavour Assembled for Display at California Science Center
-
The Space Shuttle Endeavour was lifted into launch position at the California Science Center, where it will be on display when construction is completed.
-
This is the first time a Space Shuttle stack has been assembled outside of a NASA or Air Force facility.
-
Endeavour will remain wrapped in plastic for at least another 18 months until construction of its new home is finished.
-
A 450-foot crane was used to lift the 122-foot orbiter into position on top of the external tank and solid rocket boosters.
-
When complete, this will be the only full stack of authentic Space Shuttle flight hardware on display anywhere in the world.
