New AI Software Platform Aims to Improve Aneurysm Stent Placement

Researchers developed PreSize, an AI software platform, to improve aneurysm treatment by more accurately placing stents.

Stents divert blood flow to avoid rupturing aneurysms, but currently there is "a lot of guesswork" in placement which can lead to complications.

PreSize creates digital twins to predict stent behavior and optimize placement, with 95% accuracy versus 81% for clinicians in one study.

PreSize has been used in 375 patient operations so far across hospitals in several countries.

More research is needed before widespread adoption, but AI like PreSize has potential to revolutionize healthcare if rigorously tested.
