Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey scheduled a special election to fill the vacant House seat left by John Rogers' resignation after he pleaded guilty to felony charges.

Rogers resigned last Friday after pleading guilty on March 15 to conspiracy to commit mail/wire fraud and obstruction of justice in a kickback scheme.
-
The special primary election will be June 18, with a potential runoff on July 16. The special general election will be October 1.

Rogers directed $400,000 of public money to a nonprofit run by Fred Plump, who resigned last year after pleading guilty in the scheme.

Rogers agreed to pay nearly $200,000 in restitution and will be sentenced on July 26 along with Plump.
