Amazon to launch drone delivery service in the UK by 2024, expanding global drone delivery network

Amazon will start using drones to deliver parcels under 5lbs in under 1 hour in the UK by end of 2024, starting in one undisclosed location.

It is already offering drone deliveries in 2 US states and is looking to expand to a 3rd US state and Italy.

The drone service will start in a suburban area and expand slowly based on regulatory approvals.

Amazon has developed a new quieter drone called MK30 that can fly up to 12km and deliver in light rain and wind.

Amazon aims to be making 500 million drone deliveries globally per year by end of decade, including in densely populated areas.
