Amazon Removes 'Just Walk Out' from Grocery Stores, Replacing with Smart Carts

Amazon is removing Just Walk Out technology from its Amazon Fresh grocery stores as part of an effort to revamp the chain.

The technology allowed customers to pay without standing in line and get receipts later.

It will be replaced by smart carts that let customers skip checkout but see spending in real time.

Amazon has struggled to find the right formula for its grocery stores and has closed some locations.

Just Walk Out will still be offered in Amazon Go stores and some smaller Amazon Fresh stores in the UK.
