AWS Launches New Sovereign Cloud Service in Europe for Governments and Regulated Industries

AWS to launch a sovereign cloud in Europe for government and regulated industries. Data will be stored in EU and managed by EU staff.

EU has led on privacy and security rules. Its privacy regulator began a probe into public sector's use of cloud services.

Companies and governments increasingly use big tech clouds over own infrastructure.

Microsoft and Oracle have also launched government cloud services in Europe.

AWS will launch first in Germany and expand across Europe.
