Amazon Offers Free AI Credits to Startups for Models from Meta, OpenAI, and Anthropic

Amazon will now allow startups to use free AWS credits for major AI models from other providers like Meta and OpenAI, in addition to Amazon's own Bedrock platform.

The move could help attract more AI startups to use AWS and minimize their AI costs. Developing advanced AI can cost over $100 million based on OpenAI's experience.

Amazon recently invested $4 billion in AI startup Anthropic, a rival to OpenAI, and will cover Anthropic's models under the free credits program.

Anthropic's latest AI model apparently displayed "meta-awareness" in internal tests.

Amazon has offered startups over $6 billion in credits over the past decade and plans to offer $500,000 in credits to startups in Y Combinator's latest cohort.
