Android 15 May Keep Bluetooth Partly On to Aid Lost Device Tracking
- Android 15 may automatically turn Bluetooth back on after user turns it off, to improve Find My Device effectiveness
- Find My Device network relies on Bluetooth pings between nearby devices to locate lost phones
- Data shared is encrypted so locations aren't tracked by 3rd parties without consent
- Android 15 may only "pause" Bluetooth when turned off, rather than fully disabling it
- Effectiveness of tracking lost devices would be reduced if people can fully disable Bluetooth
