Adaptive Audio balances between Transparency and Noise Cancellation modes based on the environment. It works slower than Adaptive Transparency to intelligently adjust the audio spectrum.

During development, Apple considered using iPhone GPS to detect when the user is in a noisy location and automatically adjust Adaptive Audio levels. This idea was scrapped in favor of real-time audio monitoring by the AirPods themselves.

Personalized Volume remembers user audio preferences based on location and environment noise levels. It was developed by analyzing hours of user data.

Conversation Awareness reduces media volume when the user starts speaking. It detects jaw movements via accelerometers to confirm the user is talking.
