Apple Leads Tech Giants in Climate Action But More Progress Needed, Reports Find

Apple is ahead of other tech giants like Dell, Google, HP, Microsoft, and Nvidia in its climate initiatives according to a new report, especially in pushing suppliers to use renewable energy.

The report says Big Tech produces 4% of global emissions, so tech companies need more strategic renewable energy purchasing and to work together more on climate policy.

Apple aims to be carbon neutral across operations and suppliers by 2030, with suppliers more than doubling clean power use recently.

However, a separate report criticizes Apple for no longer asking suppliers to disclose emissions, hurting transparency.

Apple says it will keep working with suppliers and third-party validation to cut emissions, but more progress is needed across the tech industry.
