Apple Debuts New, More Affordable Apple Pencil Alongside iPadOS 17 Enhancements

Apple introduces a new, more affordable Apple Pencil with many of the same great features as previous models like low latency and tilt sensitivity. It is compatible with all iPads that have a USB-C port.

The new Apple Pencil attaches magnetically to the side of compatible iPads for easy storage and charging. It has a flat, matte finish and no Lightning port.

iPadOS 17 brings new personalization options like customizable fonts, colors, and widgets on the Lock Screen as well as enhancements to apps like Notes, Messages, and Freeform.

The new Apple Pencil starts at $79, the lowest price yet for an Apple Pencil. Education pricing is $69.

Older Apple Pencil models are still compatible with certain iPad models. The 1st gen Pencil works with the new 10th gen iPad with an adapter, while the 2nd gen Pencil works with iPad Pro, Air, and mini.
