Apple Ditches Leather for More Sustainable iPhone and Apple Watch Accessories
-
Apple is no longer using leather for iPhone cases, Apple Watch bands, and other accessories due to leather's large carbon footprint.
-
Instead, Apple is switching to "FineWoven," a micro-twill textile made of 68% recycled material that has a soft, suede-like texture.
-
FineWoven will be available in a variety of colors for iPhone 15 cases, Apple Watch bands, and more.
-
Apple worked with partners like Nike and Hermes to create more sustainable third-party bands as well.
-
Replacing leather is noticeable for consumers, but behind the scenes Apple is pushing for 100% clean energy among manufacturers too.
