Apple Watch Users Report Severe Battery Drain, Overheating After watchOS 10.1 Update

Apple Watch users complaining of rapid battery drain and overheating after updating to watchOS 10.1. Watches draining from 100% to dead in just a few hours.

Problems seem to affect a wide range of Apple Watch models, including older Series 4 and newest Series 7/Ultra.

Many users also unable to charge watch due to overheating message "Charging was on hold due to Apple Watch temperature."

Widespread complaints on Twitter, Reddit, Apple forums since Monday release of watchOS 10.1. Issue may have been present in 10.1 beta.

Apple hasn't commented on battery/overheating problems. No mention in watchOS 10.1 release notes. Remains to be seen if watchOS 10.2 update coming soon resolves issues.
