Apple Watch Adds New Double Tap Gesture Control in watchOS 10.1 Beta
-
Apple Watch Series 9 and Ultra 2 owners can now control their watch using a new double tap gesture with the public beta release of watchOS 10.1.
-
The gesture allows performing common tasks like answering calls, controlling music playback, seeing notifications etc. without touching the screen.
-
It works by tapping index and thumb together twice quickly. The neural engine uses sensors and ML to detect the wrist motions.
-
Double tap can also be used for more advanced interactions like scrolling widgets in a Smart Stack or performing default actions on notifications.
-
Previously a similar accessibility feature was available but Apple is now refining it as a mainstream interaction using the latest hardware capabilities.
