MPs Find GC Strategies in Contempt Over ArriveCan Stonewalling, Order Rare Public Rebuke
• MPs agreed to a motion finding GC Strategies partner Kristian Firth in contempt of Parliament for refusing to answer questions before a House committee about the ArriveCan app contract.
• Firth was ordered to appear before the bar of the House of Commons on April 17th to receive a public rebuke from the Speaker.
• An auditor general report found the $60 million ArriveCan project costs were partly due to over-reliance on contractors like GC Strategies.
• GC Strategies was involved in developing requirements for an ArriveCan contract later awarded to them worth $25 million.
• Being brought before the bar of the House to be admonished is very rare, last occurring in 2021 for the Public Health Agency of Canada president.
