Austin Energy Deploys AI Wildfire Detection System

Austin Energy is using 360-cameras and AI from Pano AI to detect wildfire smoke and notify fire crews faster. This is the first use of this tech in Texas.

The 360-cameras will be placed on cell towers and other high points throughout Austin Energy's coverage area. There will be 12 locations about 10 miles apart.

The system will be operational before next fire season, helping to alert rural Travis County fire crews earlier about fires.

Austin Energy can use the cameras to see fires in relation to infrastructure and potentially shut off power lines to make conditions safer for firefighters.

This is cutting edge technology and will be the first implementation in Texas, according to Austin Energy.
