Bandcamp faces layoffs weeks after acquisition by Songtradr

Bandcamp was acquired by Songtradr just weeks ago, now Songtradr has initiated layoffs at Bandcamp, including editorial staff.

Bandcamp United, the workers' union, had asked Songtradr to offer employment to all staff, but layoffs still occurred.

The sale comes after Epic Games acquired Bandcamp in March 2022 but is now undergoing broader layoffs.

Songtradr says it will continue to operate Bandcamp as a music marketplace with an artist-first revenue share.

Songtradr sees Bandcamp as an asset for its licensing business and plans to license Bandcamp music to games and other media.
