Bangladesh Falls Behind Neighbors in 2023 ICT Development Index Rankings

Bangladesh scores 61.1 on the 2023 ICT Development Index, lagging behind neighboring countries like Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Vietnam, Maldives, and Cambodia.

Only 38.9% of individuals in Bangladesh were using the internet last year and 38.1% of households had internet access.

Bangladesh scored 39.2 on the Universal Connectivity pillar and 83 on the Meaningful Connectivity pillar.

Bangladeshis allocate just 2% of income for mobile, voice, and broadband services and mobile phone ownership is 61.8%.

Bangladesh trails the global average on 8 out of 10 additional factors considered in the ICT Development Index.
