Biden Administration Invests $600 Million to Boost Domestic Production of COVID Tests, Reopens COVIDTests.gov for Households to Order More Free Tests
-
The Biden-Harris Administration is awarding $600 million to 12 US manufacturers to increase domestic production of COVID-19 tests.
-
The funding will provide approximately 200 million new over-the-counter COVID-19 tests for future federal government use.
-
The investments will strengthen preparedness for COVID-19 and future pandemics and reduce reliance on overseas manufacturing.
-
COVIDTests.gov will reopen on September 25 for households to order 4 free COVID-19 tests that will remain valid through end of 2023.
-
To date, the Administration has provided over 755 million free tests to households and 500 million free tests to priority groups like long-term care facilities.
