Bitcoin developer claims Ordinals bug causes network congestion, calls for Bitcoin Core update
• Bitcoin Core developer Luke Dashjr claims a bug allows Bitcoin Ordinals to bypass data size limits, causing network congestion. He says a fix could stop new Ordinals.
• The bug was recently patched in Bitcoin Knots, a Bitcoin Core derivative maintained by Dashjr. He says Bitcoin Core v26 is still vulnerable.
• Decentralized mining protocol Ocean updated to Bitcoin Knots v25.1 to fix the vulnerability. It said its blocks will now include more "real transactions."
• Dashjr is opposed to Ordinals, claiming the "damage it's doing to Bitcoin and Bitcoin users (including future users) [...] is huge and irreversible."
• The Bitcoin network has seen increased congestion lately from Ordinals and BRC-20 token minting, with over 275,000 unconfirmed transactions.
