Blommer Chocolate Closing Chicago Plant After 85 Years, Investing $100M to Upgrade Remaining Factories

Blommer Chocolate is closing its Chicago manufacturing plant that has operated for over 85 years due to high costs and production issues.

Blommer will invest $100 million over several years to upgrade its 3 remaining plants in Pennsylvania, California, and Ontario.

Blommer's headquarters and new R&D center will remain in Chicago's Merchandise Mart.

$60 million investment planned for Blommer's Campbellford, Ontario plant to make it one of the largest confectionary coating facilities in North America.

Additional investments planned for Blommer's Pennsylvania and California plants to increase efficiency, reliability and automation.
