BRICS Sell Off $17 Billion in U.S. Treasuries in September, China Leads Exodus

BRICS dumped $17.4 billion in U.S. treasuries in September 2023, with China, Brazil, and Saudi Arabia selling the most.

China alone offloaded $13.6 billion in U.S. treasuries, trimming its holdings from $835.4 billion to $821.8 billion.

Brazil sold $2.7 billion in treasuries, reducing its holdings from $227.4 billion to $224.7 billion.

Saudi Arabia sold $1.1 billion, cutting its holdings from $109.2 billion to $108.1 billion.

In total, BRICS has dumped $123 billion in U.S. treasuries so far in 2023, adding pressure on the dollar.
