California Launches Digital Driver's License Pilot Program
-
California residents can now enroll in a pilot program to get a digital driver's license on their phone using the CA DMV Wallet app.
-
The digital license can currently be used at some airports for TSA pre-check and at select retail locations to verify age for restricted purchases.
-
To enroll, you need to download the app, scan your physical license, do a likeness check, and wait for DMV approval.
-
The digital license works as a QR code that can be scanned or as a digital ID displayed on your phone.
-
You should still carry your physical license as the digital one has limited acceptance and doesn't fully replace it yet.
