Canada Ranks Among Cheapest Countries for Dog Food, While Prices Soar in Japan

Canada ranks as the second cheapest country in North America for dog food, at $558 per year to feed a medium-sized dog. Only Dominican Republic is cheaper at $409.

Japan is the most expensive country for dog food globally, at over $2,000 annually. Other costly countries include Andorra, Uruguay, Saudi Arabia.

Botswana is the cheapest country globally, with annual dog food costs at $163. Other inexpensive countries are Hungary, France, and Ireland.

Recent inflation has led some pet owners to have to choose between feeding themselves or their pets.

The American Kennel Club suggests affordable healthy supplements like carrots, blueberries, fish oil and green beans.
