Over 1,000 Alleged Capitol Rioters Arrested, Some Defendants Claim Travel Difficulties and Stigma
-
Over 1,000 alleged Capitol rioters have been arrested since January 6, 2021. 335 have been sentenced to prison time and 119 to house arrest.
-
Some defendants claim flying has become very difficult, with extra screening and delays. One said he believes he's on a terrorist watchlist.
-
A letter from James Rahm III said flying is "extremely inconvenient and embarrassing" with personal items searched and extra security checks.
-
Rahm also claimed the January 6 stigma has affected his personal relationships and he receives hate mail.

In September, another defendant cited concerns over being on a no-fly list and "lasting stigma" from the riot. He was sentenced to 4 years in prison.
