FDA: Sargento Recalls Shredded Cheese Products Sold in 15 States Over Listeria Concerns

The FDA is urging food service customers in 15 states to discard or return shredded cheese products distributed by Sargento due to potential listeria contamination.

Bags of shredded cheese varieties like cheddar, mozzarella, parmesan, etc. with use-by dates from Feb. 5 to July 2022 are impacted.

The recall impacts cheese bags sold in 15 states including Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, and more.

Over 2,000 cases each of recalled white cheddar and cotija cheeses were distributed.

The recall is part of a larger cheese/dairy recall by supplier Rizo-Lopez Foods linked to 2 deaths and 24 illnesses across 11 states.
