Keurig Unveils 100% Compostable K-Rounds Pods and New Alta Brewer for Waste-Free Coffee by 2025
• Keurig is rolling out a new line of 100% compostable coffee pods called K-Rounds that contain no plastic or aluminum. The pods use a thin, invisible cellulose wrapper.
• The K-Rounds will require a new Keurig brewer called the Alta, designed specifically to brew the eco-friendly pods. Both are expected to launch publicly in 2025.
• The K-Rounds will come in various sizes and grinds to optimize brewing parameters for different coffee types like espresso and iced coffee.
• The new Alta machine will still be able to brew regular plastic K-Cups in addition to the K-Rounds, so existing Keurig users won't be alienated.
• Keurig aims for the new system to "redefine how consumers will brew coffee for decades to come" by eliminating plastic waste while still providing single-serve convenience.
