Pigeon Dating Sim Creator Says No Royalties from Epic Since Acquiring Mediatonic, Despite Ongoing Sales

Hato Moa, creator of the pigeon dating sim Hatoful Boyfriend, says she hasn't received royalties from Epic Games since it acquired Mediatonic in 2021.

Mediatonic had previously worked with Moa to create an HD remaster of Hatoful Boyfriend and publish it internationally.

The Hatoful Boyfriend remaster was removed from many stores after Epic acquired Mediatonic, but is still available on Steam.

Recent reviews indicate new players are still buying Hatoful Boyfriend on Steam, so Moa believes some sales are still occurring.

Moa says Mediatonic employees were always nice to her, and she wishes she could have supported them more after recent layoffs at the studio.
