Epic Games' Donald Mustard Retiring After Helming Fortnite's Rise to Pop Culture Phenomenon

Donald Mustard, Chief Creative Officer at Epic Games, announced he is retiring after nearly 25 years in the gaming industry.

Mustard helped create massive success of Fortnite, overseeing its ambitious storyline and pop culture crossovers.

In 2005, Mustard founded Chair Entertainment, which Epic acquired in 2008. Chair developed Shadow Complex and Infinity Blade series.

As Chief Creative Officer starting in 2016, Mustard made Fortnite a pop culture phenomenon with crossovers like Marvel and Star Wars.

Mustard said he looks forward to playing Fortnite as a fan and teased "huge, jaw dropping, amazing things" coming from the current team.
