Ford Defends Ghamari Amid Calls to Remove MPP Over Controversial Posts on Muslims
-
Ontario Premier Doug Ford said he will not remove PC MPP Goldie Ghamari from caucus despite calls from Muslim groups about her "dangerous rhetoric" on social media.
-
Muslim groups cite Ghamari's posts that suggest the Muslim prayer "Allahu Akbar" could raise safety concerns and that associate wearing a headscarf with women's subjugation.
-
Ghamari has also called NDP MPPs "terrorist sympathizers" and a "mouthpiece for the terrorist Islamic Regime in Iran’s antisemitic Islamofascist propaganda."
-
Ford said Ghamari has been "a strong voice for anti-Islamophobia" and that hate and racism have no place in Ontario.
-
This comes after NDP MPP Sarah Jama was censured for a post supporting Palestinians, preventing her from speaking until she apologizes.
