Musk's Bold Timelines for Tesla, SpaceX Often Miss Mark

Musk predicted Tesla robotaxis would be available in 2019 and regular cars would be like owning a horse by 2022. Neither prediction came true.

Musk set timelines for SpaceX missions like sending humans to Mars by 2024 and flying private citizens around the Moon by 2018. Those predictions failed.

Musk famously tweeted "probably close to zero new cases" of COVID-19 in the U.S. by end of April 2020. Cases numbered 20,000 per day then.

Musk made many predictions about Tesla capabilities like summon from anywhere and 1,000 kilometer battery ranges by 2017. Those benchmarks haven't been achieved.
