ECB Could Implement More Rate Hikes If Needed Says Governor Holzmann

Austrian central bank Governor Robert Holzmann said ECB could implement 1-2 more rate hikes if there are additional economic shocks.

Holzmann said hiking cycle could end if everything goes well, but more hikes may be needed if info proves incorrect.

There is still upside risk to inflation according to Holzmann.

In September, ECB hiked rates to 4% in its 10th consecutive increase to battle inflation.

ECB indicated in September further hikes may be off the table for now after key rates reached levels to contribute to lowering inflation.
