NYC to Launch $15 Congestion Toll This Summer to Cut Traffic, Fund Transit Upgrades
- Slated to begin in mid-June, the toll aims to reduce traffic and raise $1B per year to fund upgrades to public transit
- Drivers will be charged $15 to enter Manhattan below 60th St on weekdays from 5am-9pm
- Exemptions include emergency vehicles, transit buses, and vehicles transporting people with disabilities
- Toll will be collected via E-ZPass or mail for those without E-ZPass
- Funds raised will pay for improvements including Second Ave subway extension, new subway signals, station upgrades
