Tuberville's hold has left hundreds of leadership positions at the Pentagon vacant in protest of its abortion policy.

Hayden signed a letter with retired military officials criticizing Tuberville's hold as harmful to military readiness.

The ex-CIA chief has repeatedly slammed Tuberville on social media, calling him a "racist" and an "idiot."

Hayden faced backlash last year for appearing to suggest Trump should be executed for mishandling nuclear documents.
