FCC Votes to Reinstate Obama-Era Net Neutrality Rules

FCC voted 3-2 along party lines to start process of reinstating Obama-era net neutrality rules. This would give FCC more ability to regulate internet.

Proposal aims to reestablish FCC authority over broadband by classifying it as a telecommunications service under Title II.

Would restore 2015 framework that was repealed under Trump administration in 2018.

Rosenworcel said it will help ensure public safety, national security, cybersecurity and privacy.

FCC also voted to advance proposal to expand subsidized Wi-Fi access on school buses, closing homework gap.
