FCC to Vote on Proposal to Reinstate Net Neutrality Rules
- FCC will vote on April 25 on proposal to restore net neutrality regulations
- Net neutrality requires data be treated equally, forbids throttling or blocking content
- Regulations were enacted in 2015 under Obama, dismantled under Trump in 2017
- Effort to restore began under Biden in 2021, formal process started in September 2023
- If approved, FCC says it will provide oversight of outages, increase security, bring back national standard
