Fact Check: Do Democrats Really Create More Jobs Than Republicans?

The chart showing Democrats created way more jobs than Republicans is misleading; many other factors impact job creation besides the president. Adjusting the timeframe and methodology reduces the gap.

Much of the difference in job creation is due to luck - economic downturns happening under Republican presidents and rebounds flattering Democratic presidents.

Looking at median monthly job creation for each presidency shows a smaller gap between Democrats and Republicans.

Accounting for a one-year lag, to allow time for presidential policies to take effect, the gap narrows further.

Democrats still outperform Republicans on job creation but the gap is much smaller once adjustments are made. Republicans' claim that Democrats are "job killers" is false.
