Biden Administration Relaunches Free At-Home COVID Test Website as Winter Surge Looms

The federal government is relaunching the COVIDtests.gov website on September 25 to send up to 4 free at-home COVID tests per household.
This comes as COVID hospitalizations have peaked in January for the past 3 years, and testing can help minimize spread.
The $600 million investment will go to 12 U.S. test manufacturers to make 200 million tests and reduce reliance on overseas suppliers.
Over 750 million free tests were previously distributed through the website during the Omicron surge.
Tests may still be used past expiration if lot numbers are checked on the COVIDtests.gov website, as many dates have been extended.
