Newsom's Restaurant Posts $16/hr Job Despite His $20 Minimum Wage Law

California Gov. Newsom partially owns a restaurant, PlumpJack Cafe, posting a $16/hr busser job despite new $20 minimum wage law for fast food places.

The new $20 minimum wage law applies to fast food chains with 60+ locations, so it excludes PlumpJack's handful of establishments.

Newsom has faced backlash over the lower PlumpJack wage compared to fast food chains that must now pay $20/hr minimum.

Assembly Member Joe Patterson criticized Newsom for not having his businesses pay the $20 wage he imposed on other restaurants.

Besides raising consumer prices, Republicans fear the new minimum wage law will threaten low-pay cafeteria jobs at cash-strapped public schools.
