This new chipset will power next-generation Wear OS smartwatches.

RISC-V allows anyone to freely build custom processors unlike Arm which requires a license.

RISC-V adoption is growing after Arm considered changing its licensing model to charge royalties.

This gives Qualcomm and Google an alternative to Arm for smartwatches in case licensing changes.
