Google Ditches Strict Monthly Update Schedule for Pixel Phones, Will Roll Out Updates as Soon as They're Ready

Google will no longer follow a set monthly schedule for Pixel updates. Updates will now roll out as soon as they are ready.

This new update approach starts with the Pixel 8 series. It's likely for all future Pixels.

The update timing may be more fluid - delays could happen but updates could also sometimes arrive early.

Monthly updates will probably still be frequent but the specific timing each month is now flexible.

Google says this new approach will "deliver the highest quality, best tested updates" after necessary testing is complete.
