Google Adds AI Image Generation to Search, Lets Users Create Own Images

Google is adding AI image generation to its search engine, allowing users to generate images from text prompts.

The feature is powered by Google's Imagen technology and will be opt-in initially, available in English in the US.

Users will be able to specify image types like photos, drawings, or paintings and download results as png files.

Google says it will have strict content filtering to prevent misuse, blocking photorealistic faces and names of famous people.

Access will be limited to over-18s, with watermarking and metadata identifying images as AI-generated.
