Google Chrome Implements Faster, More Private Malware and Phishing Protection
• Google Chrome will now check websites against Safe Browsing real-time blocklist on Google servers to catch malicious sites faster without sharing user browsing data
• New system catches 25% more phishing attacks than previous hourly updated local lists
• Uses encrypted hash prefixes of URLs to check against blocklist on Google servers, not full URLs, to protect privacy
• Added privacy server by Fastly to sit between Chrome and Safe Browsing to remove identifiers
• New real-time checking will be enabled by default on desktop and iOS Chrome, coming to Android later this month
