Tensions Boil Over at Congressional Hearing on Afghanistan Withdrawal
-
House Foreign Affairs Committee chair Michael McCaul told fellow GOP Rep. Darrell Issa "go f--- yourself" during a hearing when Issa kept talking after his time expired.
-
McCaul later apologized, saying he lost his temper after a long day. Issa made a joke about being called worse by people he doesn't like.
-
The hearing was about the 2021 Afghanistan withdrawal and Abbey Gate attack that killed 13 US service members. It lasted 4 hours.
-
At the end, McCaul apologized to the whole committee if he was impatient, admitting it had been a long day.
-
The incident recalls when VP Dick Cheney told Sen. Patrick Leahy "go f--- yourself" on the Senate floor in 2004.
