Looting in Philadelphia After Protest; At Least 15 Arrested
-
Stores in Philadelphia were looted Tuesday night after a crowd of around 100 young people broke into stores. At least 15 people were arrested.
-
The looting happened after a protest over the dismissal of charges against a police officer in a shooting death, but police said the thefts were not connected to the protest.
-
Looters targeted stores in Center City and other parts of Philadelphia, breaking glass and taking merchandise. An Apple store and Foot Locker were among those hit.
-
The earlier protest around City Hall over the officer's charges being dismissed was peaceful and ended by 730 p.m. The looting started shortly after.
-
Police believe some of the looting may have been coordinated through social media. Two guns were recovered and more arrests are expected as police gather evidence.
