Sony Raises PlayStation Plus Prices by Up to 35%, Citing Improved Service and Economic Conditions

Last month, Sony raised PlayStation Plus prices by up to 35%, justifying it by saying they want to make PS Plus great and noting economic conditions.

Sony's head of global marketing said this was the first price increase in many years for 85% of the world.

The price hike affects 12-month subscriptions for Essential, Extra and Premium tiers, increasing them $20-$40 depending on tier.

Microsoft also raised Xbox Game Pass prices in July, but by a relatively smaller amount.

Sony said the PS Plus price hike is justified by the quality and variety of games offered, unlike competitors.
