Johns Hopkins Invests $1 Million to Develop AI Technologies for Healthy Aging
-
The Johns Hopkins Artificial Intelligence and Technology Collaboratory for Aging Research (JH AITC) announced $1 million in new grant funding to develop AI technologies for healthy aging.
-
4 additional recipients will receive up to $200,000 each to work on projects promoting older adults' independence through improving mobility and mental health.
-
Funded projects include using AI-powered exosuits to assist with walking, an eye-tracking device to manage delirium in ICU patients, contactless sensors to detect neuropsychiatric symptoms, and using ML to predict fall risk.
-
The JH AITC was launched in 2021 with a $20 million NIA grant to advance innovations in healthy aging through cross-disciplinary collaboration.
-
Director Phillip Phan says the goal is to support early intervention through technologies that can detect neurological decline before symptoms arise.
