New Word Game 'Strands' Challenges Players to Swipe Letters and Spell Themed Words
-
Strands is a new word game from the New York Times, similar to Wordle or Spelling Bee. You make words by swiping letters in any direction on a 6x8 grid.
-
There is always a theme - you need to find words related to the theme as well as a long "spangram" word that spans the grid.
-
You earn hints by guessing valid words unrelated to the theme. Three wrong guesses gets you one hint.
-
Mistakes don't count against you. You can guess words even if you're not sure they fit the theme.
-
When you finish, you get an emoji recap showing which words you found, which were hinted, and the order you found them. The goal is to solve with the fewest hints.
