Hacked Crypto Exchange Recovers Nearly All Funds by Offering Hacker a Bounty

HTX exchange was hacked for $8M in ETH in September, but swiftly recovered most funds by offering hacker a 5% bounty.

Hacker returned 4,997 ETH of the 5,000 ETH stolen after being offered 250 ETH bonus and no legal action.

HTX thanked the hacker and industry for help in resolving the issue.

Q3 2022 saw a big jump in hacks on crypto/Web3 firms, with 76 vs just 30 in Q3 2021 per Immunefi.

Mixin Network also hacked in same week for $200M, but unlikely to recover funds unlike HTX case.
